Trango MaxCam™ is Awarded
Climbing Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award

Boulder Colorado, USA – Climbing magazine has
awarded its prestigious “Editor’s Choice” to Trango’s new MaxCam™.
“Editor’s Choice”, issued to only the best new products in the climbing
world, is the premier award in the climbing world for product design,
quality, innovation and function.
The MaxCam™ earns this award because of its unique design
that maximizes the expansion range and minimizes weight and complexity.
According to Max Reed, designer of the MaxCam™, “There is an unspoken
notion that innovation brings with it complexity. I emphasize that this
cam will feel at home in your hands from the first trigger pull. It is
as light and strong as anything else, AND it has an awesome expansion
range. …for me it is one of those rare cases where an enormous amount of
engineering actually led to a simple solution. That simplicity is what
they see when they pull it [the trigger] down for the first time.”
MaxCams™ feature a 2:1 expansion ratio—a #3 MaxCam will
protect a crack from thin hands (1.7”) to cupped hands (3.4”)--a range
that spans 2-3 normal cams. MaxCams™ come in six sizes to protect cracks
ranging from tips to stacked hands and will be available in early May,
2005.
Trango, a division of Great Trango Holdings, Inc. has a
growing reputation of being the most innovative and forward thinking
company in the climbing industry. According to one store buyer, “I go to
the show to visit all of my suppliers, sure, but when I want to see
what’s really new and cool, I visit the Trango booth. It’s clear that
the people on the team at Trango are real climbers who spend enough time
at the crags to know what climbers really want. ”
The MaxCam™ has been awarded US Patent # 5,860,629 for
its innovation and unique design.
