Five Ten was established by big wall solo climbing, hard aiding, first ascending Charles Cole in 1985. Charles had heard that another company's sticky rubber compound was discovered by accident. An engineer with a love for Chess and other games of the mind, Charles immediately found a new goal to use directed research to improve climbing rubber. After all, if someone could do well by accident, think what you could accomplish if you put your mind to the problem.

The story is not new any longer and anyone who doesn't already know that StealthÒ is the stickiest climbing rubber in the world is either living in a cave or just plain silly. Five Ten doesn't have a mission statement, but we do have one goal: make the best footwear possible. All our innovation and designs have been produced with that goal in mind: to do what is best for athletes who use our shoes.

Looking back through the years we see lots of Five Ten firsts. Usually it was something that was said to be impossible.

We are always inspired by the impossible. You can be sure that right now we are working hard on next year's models and that we will be bringing something wild, new and exciting into Five Ten's world of adventure sports.
