In 1971, two college students studying glaciated peaks in Alaska created the Marmot club, and a brand idea to create product that met with their rigorous use and high quality demands. Flash forward to 1974 and Marmot Mountain LLC was born in Grand Junction, CO in a small stone grocery store making high quality down parkas and sleeping bags.

Two years later, a representative from W.L. Gore approached Eric with a new concept in outdoor technology fabrics: Gore-Tex. After some rigorous testing and a few nights in a meat locker, they were first to market with the new product.

Marmot just celebrated its 36 year of creating industry leading and award winning product. From our humble roots in high quality down, we have expanded the offering to a full line of tents, sleeping bags, packs, outerwear and sportswear- and kids! Marmot continues to push the bar in innovation and design, while remaining authentic and approachable.
